GENERAL INFORMATION + PRICES
$40 for Town of Hoosick residents   /   $50 for non-residents

- Please dress your child appropriately for lessons: snow pants, winter jacket, hat, scarf, and mittens.
- Helmets are strongly recommended for beginner skaters, especially those under six years of age.
- Arrive 15 minutes before your lesson is scheduled to begin, especially if you are renting skates ($2).
- Do not wear skates to the rink unless you have blade guards.
- Let skates warm before putting them on.
- Double runners are NOT allowed for lessons.
- Children under 8 years of age must have an adult with them for the duration of the lesson.
- Make sure that skates have been properly tightened before skating lessons.
- If you have purchased new skates, most do not come sharpened. Please be sure that your child's skates have been sharpened before the first lesson. Skate sharpening can be done at the rink for $5. If using the Town of Hoosick Ice Rink, please drop your skates off at least a week in advance.
- Make sure that your child is wearing skates that fit! Trying to make skates fit by wearing many layers of socks doesn't work and will cause your child's feet to get colder than usual. If you are unsure if skates fit properly, please see an instructor.

MORE ABOUT THE PROGRAM
"Certificates of Achievement"
At some point during skating lessons, your child may receive a certificate at the end of a class. This certificate indicates the he/she has successfully executed all of the elements in a given level of skating and is ready to move up to the next level. The skater will receive this certificate from the instructor at the end of the class. Some skaters will move up several levels in a season and some will stay in the same level for more than one season. Your child will be asked by the instructor to give these sheets to the parent immediately following the lesson. The parent immediately needs to bring the sheet to the table set up in the warm-up room so we are able to assign the skater to the next level of skating for the next lesson. Most often, the skater is able to be scheduled for the same session time; however, it is possible that the time may change. Please do not forget to hand these in immediately after the lesson. This is our only means of keeping track of your child's progress and their assignment for the next lesson.

Cancellations
It is the responsibility of the parent to find out whether or not lessons have been cancelled. With our unusual weather in recent years, it is possible that we may need to cancel occasionally due to lack of ice. Please be aware that it takes a couple of days of cold temperatures to rebuild the ice after it has been warm. If you have any doubt whatsoever, please visit Town of Recreation on Facebook, or call Tyler Rondeau at 518-268-8356 after 4pm on Wednesdays and 8am on Saturdays.

While we make every effort to maintain a consistent instructor in a particular class level, it is possible that your child may have a different instructor from one lesson to another. Please look at the class assignment posted on the wall prior to every lessons to find out who your child's instructor will be.
